Titirangi R & R – ‘Struck Off’

Titirangi Ratepayers & Residents struck off Register

TitirangiStruckOffCapturebLeft: On the 27th of February 2013 the Titirangi Ratepayers and Residents Association Incorporated was removed from the register of NZ Companies Office and now want to start again.

So let’s look at some history:

  1. The last accounts  lodged with the Registrar of Incorporated Societies was in November 2010 when they lodged their 2009 Accounts  !
  2. On 7th April 2010 they went public looking for funds to finance the ‘Rotondo Development Appeal

TitirangiRR04CaptureaQuestion : The Titirangi R&R,  signed by Greg Presland and Mels Barton,  appealed for public donations to fight a legal case. I ask:  “Have the public the right to see where the money came from or how much they spent on the legal proceedings on the Rotondo Development Appeal?   Can we see your accounts for 2010, 2011, 2012 2013 & 2014 please?”

A new Titirangi Residents & Ratepayers has been mooted by the old group.  They are kind of pretending they are just changing the rules but in fact that’s not the case as they were struck off – it’s a new registration!

The existing Rules have been in place since 1987 and while perfectly adequate until now the Incorporated Society’s Act is due to be updated next year. A number of proposed changes to the Act directly impact on what needs to be included in Society’s Rules. So we have decided to take the opportunity to “future proof” our rules & incorporate these changes now.

Make your accounts for the last 5 years public first  . . . .  !!!

What if a Society is not Incorporated ?

  1. PS says:

A secret group with no minutes, and no naming of their committee members, no public accounts, conflicts of interest as board members and trustees of our biggest suppliers. I’d like to know what’s in the accounts and see the rules and the published officers and preferably even published minutes and agendas.. All the other R&R groups have done the paperwork.

  2. Sally says:

Isn’t that Mels woman on that combined Ratepayers group too? No transparency

  3. Someone says:

Titirangi seems to be full of entitled people who want to represent everyone else without any sort of democratic path to achieving that, and often for their own ends. Just about anything to do with that place ends with “unexpected costs requiring donations”, such as in this case and with the bright lights nonsense that went on last year. I’d be happy to see this sort of thing challenged more often.

  4. Janet Titirangi says:

Its not an association or incorporated anymore. Titirangi Residents and Ratepayers Group.

  5. Someone Else says:

True – it’s a group. It was an incorporated society but now struck off for not filing accounts and the Treasurer was Greg Presland. You shouldn’t get to just opt out of filing your accounts! and shrug it off particularly when the Treasurer is an elected member on the board and the licensing trusts. We should have some transparency. File a $0 account if no money changed hands. The fact they are being weird about it makes me more suspicious. Point 2: If they are not incorporated. And maybe not even a group – who would know – then you shouldn’t be chair of the combined and make numerous press releases with an official sounding title.

  6. FYI says:

Titirangi R&R’s facebook page does describe itself as an incorporated society and an association. “The Titirangi Ratepayers and Residents Association Inc., which is an incorporated Society formed in 1987 to promote and represent the interests of ratepayers and residents in the Titirangi area.” Incorrect. It is no longer a legal entity.
