This is disgusting service

0 Comments 12 November 2014

We pay an additional levy on our Auckland Council rates for ‘sewage’.

SewageOverspillWe pay something around $180+gst a year to have our septic tanks emptied and inspected every three years.

Council has been questioned on this cost as if you get it done privately it is not $600 but the answer is that their cost includes inspecting the system to ensure it is operating correctly.

I’ve had my own issues with Hydrotech each and every time they come.  The main one being we require our ‘old septic tank’ lid to be sealed after emptying and inspection.   This stops the storm water and rain entering and filling it.

Imagine my disgust when a Piha friend phoned and asked me to come and have a look at this – photo.

As my friend was flat-out I called Council and logged a ‘health and safety’ job.  An inspector came out and concluded this was caused by tree roots.  But on further investigation it wasn’t.  The problem was the contractors didn’t put the lid on that white PVC pipe properly and every time the chain was pulled or, dishwasher used, or shower, or  . . .  well this disgusting overflow occurred.

My concern is if, and I’m sure it does, this happens on other properties I suspect the owners just might see $$$$ signs flashing in front of their eyes before they faint at the thought of $25,000+ it’s going to cost them to replace it.

YourSepticTankNow have a look at the ‘your septic tank pump-out’ form left by Hydrotech.

Firstly it’s not dated !

Then it says your ‘tank has been pumped out’ and ‘work completed and reinstated’.

‘A fault was found with your system (please see below) NO!   It indicated no problems.  WRONG !    Sewage was flowing everywhere . . . .
