Final 80th Anniversary of Karekare SLSC event – Anzac Day

Dear Friend of Karekare and the Surf Club,

Karekare AnzacThis is our 80th year and it has been a hugely successful in bringing back to the club former members, family and friends. The book “Voices from the surf” has been an outstanding success, and has also enabled us to find more lost footage and photographs. Our surf carnival bought together our fellow West coast clubs united and Bethells.

Now it gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the 80th community and the management and club members to invite you to our last event, one of great significance and importance. The Anzac day special service to commemorate all of the members who serve in World War 2 and who’s names are on the plaque.

We are hoping that George Kelsall who is now in his 98th year and in good health will be our guest of honour, he is the last survivor of the World War 2 members who served and who’s names are on the memorial plaque.

Please do try and be at Karekare for this special event which will be followed by a light lunch, a ceremonial tree planting and refreshments in the club house.

Kind regards

Sir Bob Harvey
