Well have seen it all now. We have Baywatch USA now in NZ they have missed the boat here again. They are no better then a person who has gone on a first aid course . Even St.John Events trained officers would be better to use. As for the rescue utes they are are only for beach work not to be another take off of St.John first responce utes.. Too many cowboys trying to be paramedics now.

We have Piha 1st Response for car accidents and heart attacks. We have Volunteer Fire Brigade for car accidents and fires. Did anyone ask Piha if we wanted these huge unnecessary wheels hooning on the beach or don’t we get a say? Are dogs any more dangerous than these?

I totally agree with you Stephen. I cant believe this! Not only is it typical Piha Surf Club over kill having not one, but three extra vehicles on this busy beach, but the colour is total visual pollution which we have to look at from our deck! How did they get away with this? So, on top of the 4 or so small buggies they have already, they now have these extra 3 huge Nissans on such a busy beach. They are life savers in the water for heavens sake, not a one stop shop. Will they be driven by kids like the buggys are?
As for that guy who is their spokes person saying they will be able to help if you have a heart attack or accident!!! I dont think so. They are first aid people and lifesavers on the beach…full stop. There is a brilliant First Response Team in Piha of very very experienced medics, nurses etc, so dont send those hideous vehicles to me.
Dont get me wrong, I think the actual life savers do a good job in the water, but as long time bach owners and once members of the club along with all my family, we have watched this club go to the dogs and become nothing but a commercial, ego seeking group who do exactly what they want. Baywatch Piha is right.

It seems very strange that a beach that’s about 500m long gets 3 fancy new utes, four or more bikes and buggies Fancy pants club rooms that is about to be become even bigger, all the hype and fan fair, And the Nth Piha Surf club that has 2.5 Km of beach to patrol gets naf all. their club rooms are falling down around them and they get nothing at all. That’s not really fair now is it.!

Guys guys guys.. you only have 10% of the story. If this wasn’t the internet I would explain the whole situation and show you just how deep the rabbit hole goes..
