They’re redundant so they’re going

That was the question I put to council and got this reply:

[They were] “part of the water irrigation system that was installed in the open space grass area on the north side of the Moana stream.   It was installed around 1996 to help establish the grass area and reduce sand movement. It is not now operational but we did not remove the pipes due to the damage that would be caused to the grass.  I believe it was using water from the stream.”

Needless to say they are being removed.
